Another Beautiful Hike
Still celebrating my August birthday...I called this hike to the top of Deer Mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park "My Belated Birthday Hike". It gives you the opposite lateral view of Longs Peak; and at the very top as we sat eating lunch on the rock faced cliff, it overlooked Estes Park. The view was WOW! But if you go 3.1 miles up...you need to descend 3.1 miles. We both could hardly believe we actually were up there when we looked up from the bottom!

What a wonderful birthday I had yesterday! Heather and Ian are visiting from New York. They accomplish so much in just 9 days, including celebrating their being married one year now. Steven brought Garrett up to Denver and we all went to the Denver Zoo for the day. Then Audrie and Zdenek joined us for dinner on the grill. Julie had to work but made an apple, snicker salad and visited by phone. And the day ended with the first preseason Bronco game! I so enjoyed getting cards or posts on facebook...I do love my family and friends!

40 year Class Reunion
Vern and I just got back from Ely, NV; where I celebrated with old friends from the Class of 1969.
We rode the train to the village, had dinner, class picture, and enjoyed "catching up"
Our class, the class of 1959, and Dr Rick Carter (from my class) donated funds towards White Pine High School's new football and track field. We really enjoyed getting together with class members, old friends, my sister and her family, and my mom. We even got a lot of yard work done for her.

Father's Day
Julie, Steven, Garrett (7months now with 6 teeth), and Grandpa Bill Smith are visiting. We adults went on a 3.1 mile hike around Bear Lake and then up to Alberta Falls in Rocky Mountain National Park while Aunt Audrie and Uncle Zdenek had Garrett for the day. We enjoyed a picnic lunch with the roar of a huge waterfall...lots of water right now!
Garrett is trying to crawl and can get himself to a sitting position by himself. He is really full of energy and the colic seems to be gone. Grandpa Vern has taught him how to blow his lips...spit is plentiful. We also all went to our ward for Father's Day. Stephen, Vern, and Bill got a can of rootbeer, a snicker bar, and it was secured with duck tape...an item every father knows how to use. They were pretty cute.
Today Vern took them to the top of Mount Evens while Grandma Jan babysat. Tomorrow we'll venture out and spend the day at the Denver Zoo...We sure enjoyed their visit.
Also just wanted to mention...Friday was our anniversary...39 years!!!
